"Pros and Cons" or "For and Against" essays are one type of discurssive writing in which you discuss your advantages and disadvantages of a specific topic.
They should consist of:
a) an introduction in which you present the topic, making a general remark without giving your opinion; b) a main body in which you present the points for( advantages)and the points against( disadvantages), in separate paragraphs, supporting your arguments with justifications/examples; c) a conclusion which includes your opinion (e.g. In my opinion/view, I belive/think,etc) or a balanced summary of the topic.
These essays are normally written in a formal style; therefore you should avoid using strong language(I know, I am sure,etc), short sentences, colloquial expressions or idioms.
This type of writing can be found in articles in newspapers, magazines,etc
In Sagaf you have a set of topics which you can use to develop, but you can also think of others.

ResponderEliminarEveryone is always expecting to get more knowledge. In a certain way this phenomenon can occur because people want to know more about a special topic, for developing their studies or simply for their own interests, in other words, the curiosity to know more and more about our environment, history, science or any topic is a human characteristic, which is inherent to each person. Of course the level of interest or curiosity varies person to person, since it depends of the age, the genre and tastes of each one.
The main sources used to extract information are the books and internet. Especially in our times when we have a whole world of information at our disposal. However, there is a special source which reaches beyond our memory or cognition: our own experiences throughout our life.
If we based all our knowledge only in books, we certainly would learn a lot about a specific topic or maybe many topics and how to develop them. We would become experts in any subject. But it will be very difficult to develop our own opinion about something that we only know through other`s experiences.
On the other hand if we based our knowledge only in our own experiences it can be limited because we don´t cover all the subjects that we need to learn for our own developing.
In order to get a perfect equilibrium in our learning we need to combine these two areas, namely, books and our life experiences. The former will supply all the data that we want to know and the latter will grant to us the most important ingredient to meet our goal;the wisdom.
'Some people say that physical exercise should be a required part of every school day'
ResponderEliminarThere are many opinions about if the students need to do physical exercise at schools; well, my opinion is that they have to do physical exercise at schools because probably there are many students that don’t do physical exercise in their free times out school. However, it helps to the youth to be healthy and get fun at schools getting away from books by a little time, nobody can feel bad by two hours at week of physical exercise.
Although, if physical exercise is provided as a requirement it could help to the students to be healthy and maybe to foment them to practice some sports.
In fact, if the students don’t do physical exercise or get a clear participation in the physical activities at school, nobody assure that they will do physical exercise in their free times.
In conclusion; do physical exercise should be required at schools because is necessary to the growth of the youth itself. Some parents work all day and don’t have much time to get worried about this so If the schools don’t get worried about this, who will be worried?
Uniforms in school.
ResponderEliminarIn our country, exist a variety of school. Each of it has its own rules and, of course, a uniform to wear during the year. But some other school (the minimum) does not use uniform. The student has to attend to class with every day cloth. What is better? Attend school with uniform or with every day cloth? There are pros and cons and I will try to develop what I think of it.
What about every day cloth? Well, first of all, this cloth does not bring prejudices with it. It is more comfortable to the student if he or she attends with his or her cloth and the student will be happy and the fact that going to school is (for the student) better and the marks could improve. Also a student who does not wear uniform, are able to have a sense of belonging more develop than the others students.
Every school has an identity, which the principal, teachers and students have to take care and be proud. There is a sense of belonging to an institution. It follows the use of the uniform and wears the colours and the ensign of the school. We can say that the uniform marks the student and his or her behaviour. For example: If a student wears the ensign of the “Instituto Nacional”, we will say that he is extremely intelligent, well educated and polite. But if a student wears the ensign of the “San Luis School”, we will say that he is a thief, bad educated, etc. We say that he and his classmates are the worst, because the school will be identifying with that type of people. So the uniform brings prejudices to the students, which perhaps are wrong with the student.
In my opinion, a preferred to attend school without uniform, because the uniform was very formal, and the kids are kids, so they hate use tie. After all, depends on the parents what school send his son or daughter, but something is true, If the decision lay in the hands of the son, he will prefer a school without uniform, because he will feel free and will be happy to go every day of the year to the school.
I will tell you about one of the best games arround the world, soccer.

You can practice a nice sport with friends and you can get fun doing excercices.
firs, you have to select a team, and also a goal keeper, that is very important, after that, you can play.
However, although it is fun and you can get hours of fun, you can end up hurt, because of the kicks, when the opponent tries of take the ball away he could kick your legs or you can crash with someone else.
Despite of everything that could happens, I do not change soccer for any sport. It is incredible.

Doing Exercises have many advantages.
First of all,it is good for health,when you do exercises or do some sport,you really feel well.
Also,when you do exercises,you look very happy and you have a positive view of life.For example,
doing exercises at least twice a week,you can keep in form,so you will feel better.
On the other hand,doing exercises have some disadvantages.
Firstly,if you do exercises without supervision, you can suffer a lesion.
Secondly,if you abuse doing exercises every day without a protein rich diet,your organism can suffer some illness,that would be dangerous for your health.
In my opinion is very important to do exercises,

Transantiago , the solution?

But the complaints arrives earlier than last for his late in the prearrenged time ,and people were more and more dissapointment about that .
The first victim of transantiago trouble was the ex trasnport minister Sergio Espejo who recognized “ If there are one guility is me , I tried to do the best , but the consessionary enterprises did not help in anything.” This Words produced a great debate between this enterprises , as much than they were fined for this repeated delays .

The place where you can live
ResponderEliminarThere are a lot of places where you can live, but everything depends of your tastes, what kind of things do you like or maybe field or beach.
A good option if you like the city, people, noisy things, like cars, children or even people, you can live in the city; which is quite big, crowded of many things.
You can find a lot of interesting places that you can visit in your free time or just when you want to go out to some place, restaurants when you do not want to cook yourself or when you just want to go for a walk, there are very nice places where you can go for a walk at times when you feel stressed, or just want to get away a little of all people and all the things that you can get annoying.
People who do not like the city will obviously not be the best place to live, much less if you do not like the noise of cars or congestion of people, because it is too noisy or there are a lot of pollution that is not good for health or comfort oneself.
Definitely depends on your taste in where you live, after all, that always is going to be a place that you can like more than another, everything is by your own.

Irish's children necessity for work and the current situation.
ResponderEliminarAfter World War I (1914–1918) began the Great Depression in 1929. The Depression started in the USA and quickly spread to almost every country in the world. This historic economic fact determined the life style of families in the following years across the nations. It was an economic decline that brought an era of poverty and unemployment. Children had to start to work around the age of fourteen, in the post-office for example as we can appreciate in some books like "Angela’s Ashes". At that time it was very common for children to work, it was a family obligation. Nowadays it is not an obligation, but it is still a reality at worst a necessity.
Firstly, the families did not have resources for basic necessities. Owing to the depression, it was very difficult to find employment. The families with no jobs received a dole (money paid by the government every week). They could hardly buy coal, a piece of bread, tea or milk and of course they had problems paying for a house. But they could not afford clothes; they even had to share a bathroom, “your toilet, missus? Ah, no. You’re making a mistake there, ha, ha. This toilet is for the whole Roden Lane. Eleven families will be passing your door with their buckets”. (Frank McCourt, 1996, p. 25) With this quotation we can appreciate the level of poverty in Ireland at 1930s.
Secondly, in Chile around 200.000 children and teenagers between five and seventeen years old had a job; they represent 5,4 % of this group. 107.676 do it in unacceptable conditions representing 3 % of this group. These children work in factories, the mining industry, as peddlers, so on; there are even children who are “sold” to do housework and for sexual exploitation. This reality is caused by poverty, domestic violence, absence of opportunities and inequality. All these jobs are bad or not remunerated.
Nowadays, this might not be such a terrible fact. When young people are forced to work, they immediately start to mature early; they learn to be independent, to appreciate what they have, to make an effort to improve their skills and social situation and to be practical. This kind of experiences prepares them better for life, to face future obstacles with more confidence and also with a different attitude.
I agree with the option that teenagers aged 15 can have a job, but it does not mean that they could be treated like slaves.
It is unbelievable the circumstances in which they have to work, which cause physical and psychological damages and even put their lives in danger. This situation is a violation of the rights of the child, perpetuates poverty and compromises equality. Also with limited chances to study. Children who work lose both their present and sacrifice their future.
Travelling by bus or car?
ResponderEliminarEven if both ways of travel perform they function, each of it has their pros and cons. These two transportation ways take you to the place that you want to arrive.
Travelling by car is comfortable and faster than go by bus, because your car is that, just yours and you could take any way that you thing is better for go anywhere, is a kind of independence of the system, but, in the other side, cars in general produces more pollution than the public services, like buses, the subway, etc. Car let you closer to your final destiny, because they could get in narrow streets, but when accidents occur cars finished all destroyed for the same reason, they’re smaller than buses.
In the other hand we have public transport: buses and subway. These elements of the society have helped to take people from their homes to their works in short periods of time, but with the pass of years, it has collapsed for the people’s rising. So actually if you want to take any public service is collapsed in the named “pick-hours”. But there are periods of time when this transport pass without many people inside, like in middle day (5 pm), middle morning (11 am 12 pm), anyway it has more restriction than your own car, for example in the subway you can’t sit on the floor, by the way you can’t neither in your car but is for a space problem, not rules problem. In terms of security is safer the public transport, but also thieves “work” more in buses and the subway, for the crowned.
In my opinion, I prefer the public transport, even in pick hours, because although is crowned it doesn’t pass much time to arrive wherever you want, you just have to endure the oppression of the people for a while and then you just arrive, instead go by car anywhere you have to look for a place where you could park it, and it has to be safe or you could just be stolen by thieves and lose your unique transport.
School Uniforms.
ResponderEliminarIn some high schools require all students to wear school uniforms, but in other schools permit students to decide what to wear to school. Therefore, there are two school policies, where the students can decide about that school is better and, which is more comfortable for them.
However, this two school policies are the motive of many discussions between people such as: proxy, director until students. On the other hand, exist advantages and disadvantages of this same reason, for example, in schools that require all students to wear school uniforms the advantages are students look more ordered. School has more prestige and also people has a better opinion about this school. The disadvantages are that in this type of school, there are students who sometimes they do not need feel comfortable using the respective uniforms and this reason cause many problems between people of this school.
Another school that permits students to decide what to wear to school also has advantages such as: in these case students feel very comfortable for this reason. Therefore, they get good marks in tests, because they do not have the pressure of director or another person of this school by the responsibility to wear school uniforms. Unfortunately also there are disadvantages, for example: people have a bad opinion about this school, but at the same time exist a bad reputation about this. Therefore, those schools have an inappropriate prestige.
In conclusion, I think that this two policy about of the use of uniform is good, because exist the possibility of decide in that school study, but I prefer the second policy because students should be free and not pressure for not to wear school uniforms, students are responsible, quiet, and the most important get good marks in the tests of an equal manner in the first policy. They do not need to wear school uniforms for demonstrate those are excellent students or that have the same capacity that another students who to wear school uniforms.
Traveling by car
ResponderEliminarThe car is as useful way to transport the human beings, with this you can do long travels in a comfortable way, because you can do whatever you want inside the car, is like a piece of your house on the street.
The car is more comfortable and faster than other means of transport, such as bus, bike, skate, etc on. For instance in winter you don’t get wet with the rain, also you don’t have to travel with unknown people and stand them.
The bad point is that the car creates a lot of pollution, causing breathing sickness. Another point is when the people do long trips, the driver gets tired and sometimes frustrated with the passenger in many cases with children, because they yell and move around inside the car annoying to all the persons. Another problem is when you don’t find a place where you can park.
In my opinion, to leave the car at house is a good choice when you have to do short trips, for example when you go to shopping, or when you attend to spectacle which is next to the subway or bus station, obviously if is at night I recommend you to travel in your car
How to counteract global warming with smart ideas
ResponderEliminarWorld changes every day; pollution is destroying our planet and everybody is responsible for this issue, but how can we solve this problem?. In the current world, new technologies are been invented, which can help to counteract the global warming. However, they are not affordable for everybody, although people can use the wit to prevent a future destruction, so I will provide some ideas that can be useful for this purpose.
Most of the things we use in our daily lives can be used again, that is to say, they can be recycle, so use reusable products instead of disposables; for instance, if you go to a supermarket, a good thing to do is carry with you, your own bags, instead of using the plastic ones. Besides, take care of the water, because water is running low in the world, so if we waste this resource, there will be nothing left and we will die in a near future. In addition, it is important to reduce unnecessary energy use. Therefore, switch off the electronic devices you are not using at the moment, and replace a regular light bulb for compact fluorescent light bulbs, which last 10 times longer than incandescent bulbs, they also save your money, and give less heat. Another good idea is: plant a tree; trees and other plants absorb carbon dioxide and give off oxygen, I mean, they clean the air, so we could breathe better if we start digging.
Thus, with these ideas, which are not so difficult to follow, we are helping our planet, improving our lives and we will left a better future for the upcoming generations, so let’s get started!.

In this paragraph I give my opinion in that I believe I should have this place so dear to me.
Well one of the important things for me is to choose the place where I live the rest of my life.
For me it is essential to live in a place with lots of space, hopefully near the mountain and very removed from the rest of the people, and I'm looking for mostly quiet contact with nature and silence.
I love the very large houses even though it is single and has no children. I like to have as many spaces and customize the colors and aromas that make me forget that I live immersed in a society, a large swimming pool to enjoy it alone and with my friends if any obviously.
As for the colors I prefer the brown and white winter and in preference to wood furniture, but it is vital that around me there is plenty of wood and a large stone fireplace perfect for winter.
Environment is also very important for me in choosing my home I prefer warm places and cold is not so obviously I prefer hardwood floors to the concrete. The style of the house that I like is more of a Boston-style cottage very little concrete on it.
Here I present to you that are for me the most important when choosing a place to live and it because of my decision.
Whatever your taste and depends on what you really need and can get to the rest of your life as the home is concerned.

Is a device that transmits images and sounds in a long distance. It is a mass medium that delivers instant information to people around the world.
Many people think that the television is just for entertainment, but, the television has a lot of advantages to our life, for example: lets allow us see what happens in the world in just seconds, allow us communicate, give us information (the news) , allows us to cultured ( in many channels we can see different things like documentaries, reports) etc.
The television is a kind of "conveyer of information” that enables people to be able to create their own ideas about the information provided; but this has also caused many negatives things for the people, for example: the sedentary (the people prefer see movies or anything instead go out and practice exercises for example), handling of the same information given for their own benefit, produces a false reality, produces necessity (commercials about cars, travels) etc.
In my opinion, the television is a great means of communication, gives information, gives entertainment, gives us the things that happens in other part of the world instantly; but the problem is that only a small group of people can show which they want, so the reality can be changed for their own benefits.
Pros and cons of boarding school.
ResponderEliminarIs a very complex issue when making up my mind as unique as see the option of placing their children. For the same reason we see the topic in which we understand some things in favor and against my topic and to end my personal preference on the internees.
Arguments for boarding school.
* The social networking is very positive for future personal and professional life of the child.
* In a boarding all activities are carried out in community. This is especially helpful for only children and children who have difficulties in social contacts.
* Children acquire social skills, to work together, to take others into consideration, to be tolerant and to set limits both to its own desires and the demands of others.
* Internships offer more leisure time than traditional schools. Minors are encouraged to take part in sports, manual and artistic.
* The orderly lifestyle and subjected to specific rules, helps children to structure and prevents over-parent. Especially in adolescence, can alleviate the pressures normally generated in the family.
* Both teachers and trainers in general, educational experts, thus ensuring a child's positive personal development, acquiring self-confidence, a continuous learning and a proper working system.
* Parents who have a strong work life, can thus ensure a proper education of children.
* The internship promotes coexistence in the acceptance of criticism, the sense of personal effort and self confidence.
* The children also learn to defend their ideas and adapt to the circumstances in situations of crisis.
* At the boarding acquired friendships that can last a lifetime.
Now we will see some against of the internees.
Arguments against
* In the case of troubled children with poor school record, it is not recommended the option of boarding school, since they require a degree of independence and responsibility.
* Staying in a boarding school should not result in disciplinary action, due to bad behavior or poor grades. Children who perceive their situation in the school as the result of a punishment, they withdraw into themselves, which are inaccessible to the trainers.
* Nor is it advisable to a boarding school where the child has a very high degree of dependence on family. In these cases there is a risk of isolation, discouragement and frustration
in my personal opinion against the decision to hospitalize a child in a personal care boarding as we as people wonder whether or not a good decision and take these centers as a necessity and not as a resource aimed at helping parents Although they are very good and necessary because they help people our criterion should be the good of the child and deal with that we as mature people must make up my mind.

ResponderEliminarFormal clothes are often used in some enviroments such as important companies, in courts and trials where the lawyers have to wear this clothes, etc. But it's necessary that children wear it while they're studying in the school? some principals said that it gave more severity to the learning process, but, does it affect to the student's and teacher's mood?
The uniform gives the school their own identity as institution among the other colleges. At the same time, it helps to the community to keep order and equality among students, but make differences between the students and the teachers.
In the other hand, the uniform could be a bad way to dress inside the school, moreover if they're expensive and the families of the school doesn't have enough resources for buy it.Children may be deprived of being able to cultivate their own identity, if they are forced to wear uniforms that involve rigid strict rules for use.It can also create a hostile environment between teachers and students, or even a bad learning environment if the uniform is stiff and uncomfortable putting kids in a bad mood and causing the previously mentioned consequences.
In conclusion, the uniforms could be helpfull if the uniforms were cheap and comfortable, and if the uniform don't deprive the students of their own identy. In my opinion the uniforms have never been usefull and only put barriers to the student's personality and their own identity development. And, if we thougth about the students and their learning process, does they go to the school to learn, not to wear fashionable and expensive clothes, really?

According to different theories is said that when we are child, our brain has higher capacity to change by learning and it is because of many reasons which make children to be in a better condition to acquire a language through an efficient stimulation during their childhood than adults. Many time ago people believed that children were not able to learn things which were difficult even for adults. However, by the time a lot of brain researches had demonstrated that during childhood is a period which is called ¨the critical period¨, it means that the human brain is most ready to receive and learn a particular language; besides for children is easier to learn because they have not responsibilities in their lives as the older people, and since they were born their brain cells are ready to begin to make as connections as experiences the baby or the child have in their lives. Due to that is that is so important that children be stimulated even before to born .This way, they will have more brain cells connections to solve problems in the future as a recent research which appeared in the Science (an important scientific magazine) had demonstrated.
If the ministry of education would include English programs for preschool stage or since 1st grade of primary, it would collaborate with a better brain cell development during childhood and at the same time, it would help to improve the education quality in relation with the English learning in Chile. Meet people by internet.
ResponderEliminarMeet people by internet has many disvantages, first of all you can meet people for all over the world and learn about diferent cultures, for example meet someone from a country like Greece and trough that person learn about the Greek culture and about its languages which are gree and latin.
Another advantage of meet people by internet is you can find people of your country with your same interest like you may enter to forums of a topic that you like and talk about it with a lot of people, maybe people close to you but you have never met them.
Despite the disvantages meet people by internet has a few disadvantages.
Firstly you can think that you know someone but the real think is that you don't that person and you must be very carefuly because there is a lot of people with mental sickness, also it is known that some people died because of this people.
Finally you must not give important information about you like C.I. or your credit card number because they can try to still your money.
In my opinion meet people by internet may be vey fun but always must be carefully.
